Wedding Crèche: What It Is, and How It Actually Works
A wedding crèche is a supervised children's space set up at your venue on the day of your wedding, run by trained nannies, so the children are cared for where you can see them and the adults can be fully present. At Alekai in Miami, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne and Palm Beach, we call it the Kids Lounge.

A crèche is not a babysitter, and not entertainment
A babysitter cares for one family's children, usually in a hotel room. Entertainment keeps children busy for an hour. A wedding crèche is an operation: a prepared space, a team, a written plan, an agreed nanny-to-child ratio, and coordination with your planner and venue from the walkthrough to the last hand-back of the night.
Our nannies are Montessori- and RIE-trained, most of our staff is bilingual (English/Spanish), and every nanny holds First Aid/CPR certification. That matters most at a destination wedding, where families arrive jet-lagged and the children have never met the person caring for them.

How the day runs, hour by hour
Before the day
We review your guest list with you, agree the number of children, their ages, allergies, and nap times, and walk the venue with your planner to choose the crèche space.
Guest arrival
The team is on site and set up before the first family arrives. Parents hand over with a short, calm introduction — never a rushed goodbye at the ceremony door.
Ceremony
Children who are part of the ceremony are walked to the aisle and collected immediately after. The rest stay in the crèche with quiet activities so the vows are never interrupted.
Cocktail hour & dinner
Activity stations, a children's meal served on your timeline, and a rotation between active play and rest, so the evening never ends in overtired tears.
Late evening
Lights lowered, films, blankets, and rest space for the youngest, while parents stay on the dance floor. Each child is returned to their parents personally.
Questions couples ask us
What is a wedding crèche?
A wedding crèche is a supervised children's space set up at your wedding venue, staffed by trained nannies, where the children of your guests are cared for while the adults attend the ceremony and reception. In South Florida we call ours the Kids Lounge: a dedicated room or shaded area with age-appropriate activities, rest space, and a nanny-to-child ratio agreed before the day.
What is the difference between a wedding crèche and a babysitter?
A babysitter looks after one family's children, usually in a hotel room. A wedding crèche is an on-site service for all the children attending, with a team, a staffing ratio, a prepared space, a written plan for the day, and coordination with your planner and venue.
What age children can attend a wedding crèche?
From infants through early teens. Younger children are cared for in a calm, low-stimulation area with rest space; older children are given open-ended activities and more independence. Ratios are set by the ages in the group and confirmed before your event.
Where does the wedding crèche take place?
Inside a room, suite, tent, or shaded area at your venue, close enough for parents to visit and far enough that the children never compete with the ceremony or the speeches. We walk the venue with your planner beforehand and agree the space.
How many nannies do we need for our wedding crèche?
It depends on the number of children and their ages. Infants and toddlers require closer supervision than school-age children. Send us your guest list details and we propose the staffing plan with your quote.
How much does a wedding crèche cost in Miami or Palm Beach?
Every celebration receives a custom proposal. Cost depends on the number of children, their ages, the hours of coverage, and the venue. Share your date and we send a tailored proposal within 24 hours.
