What is a wedding nanny?

A wedding nanny provides professional childcare during your special event, ensuring your little guests are happy, safe, and entertained while their parents fully enjoy the celebration.

What's the difference between a wedding nanny and a regular babysitter?

A wedding nanny is trained specifically for the pace, formality, and logistics of a wedding day. Unlike a regular babysitter, our team coordinates directly with your wedding planner, integrates into your timeline, dresses appropriately for the event aesthetic, and manages multiple children across ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception transitions. Every Alekai nanny is also background-checked, CPR/First Aid certified, and trained in our calm, Montessori-inspired approach.

Do I really need childcare if only 4–6 children are attending?

Yes — and often these are the weddings where childcare makes the biggest difference. With a small group of children, parents tend to feel guilty leaving them with relatives or splitting attention all night. A dedicated Kids Lounge gives those 4–6 children a beautiful, structured experience and gives every parent permission to fully enjoy the ceremony, dinner, and dance floor without interruption.

Is it appropriate to have a kids' area at a elevated or formal wedding?

Absolutely. Some of South Florida's most elegant weddings include an Alekai Kids Lounge — styled to match the event's color palette and aesthetic, tucked into a suite, tent, or private room near the reception. Done well, it elevates the guest experience: families travel from out of town knowing their children are cared for, and the celebration feels thoughtful and inclusive rather than restrictive.

Do your nannies speak Spanish?

Most of our staff is bilingual (English/Spanish) and holds First Aid/CPR certification. This is essential for South Florida weddings, where guests and children often come from Latin America, Spain, and bilingual households. Children always feel more comfortable when a caregiver speaks their first language.

Can you care for infants under 6 months?

Yes. We staff one dedicated nanny per infant under 12 months, including newborns. Our team is experienced with bottle feeding, nap routines, soothing, and coordinating closely with parents on schedules, feeding times, and any specific instructions. Many of our nannies come from private household backgrounds caring for newborns full-time.

What happens if a child cries or wants their parent during the event?

We handle it calmly and discreetly. Our nannies are trained to soothe, redirect, and engage children through transitions. If a child genuinely needs their parent, we walk them over quietly — never interrupting a key moment like vows, toasts, or first dances. Parents are always informed at check-in how reunification is handled, so there are no surprises.

What activities do you provide — is it just screens and iPads?

No screens. The Alekai Kids Lounge is intentionally screen-free. We bring age-appropriate crafts, sensory play, storytime, quiet games, coloring stations, and calming activities tailored to the children's ages. The goal is a peaceful, engaging environment that feels special — not a daycare and not a digital babysitter.

Do you travel to destination weddings outside South Florida?

Yes. We regularly support destination weddings throughout Florida and travel to destinations like the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and select Latin American locations (Cartagena, Tulum, Los Cabos) for full-weekend coverage. Travel, lodging, and per-diem are quoted transparently upfront. Reach out via WhatsApp at (305) 279-9200 to discuss your destination.

What is your experience?

Our certified nannies have years of experience providing thoughtful childcare at weddings and private events. They are selected for their professionalism, warmth, and ability to create calm, joyful environments for children.

What does the service include?

Each service is customized to your event and may include: Age-appropriate games and crafts, Storytime and sensory play, Mealtime and nap supervision, Assistance with transitions (toasts, dances, photos), End-of-night tidy-up for the kids' area.

How many nannies do I need?

The number of nannies depends on the number and ages of children. Our standard ratios follow best practices: 1 nanny per infant (under 12 months), 1 nanny per toddler (12–24 months), 1 nanny per every 2–3 children ages 2–6, 1 nanny per every 4 older children (6 years and up). During your consultation, we'll help determine the perfect team for your event.

Can you care for children with special needs?

Yes. Many of our nannies have experience working with children who have developmental or physical needs. Please share specific details during your consultation so we can match you with the most qualified caregivers.

What activities do you do with the children?

We create a calm, engaging environment with age-appropriate activities such as storytelling, arts and crafts, sensory play, and quiet-time games. Every activity is designed to help children feel included, relaxed, and happy throughout the event.

How does the process work?

It's simple: Step 1 — Complete our short questionnaire with your event date, venue, guest count, children's ages, and timeline. Step 2 — We build your custom childcare plan with staffing recommendations, lounge layout, and flow plan. Step 3 — On event day, we arrive early, set the lounge, manage check-in/out, and keep everything calm and organized.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 2–3 months in advance, especially during peak wedding season. However, we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests based on our team's availability.

Are your nannies insured and certified?

Yes. Alekai is fully insured, every caregiver is background-checked, and most of our staff is bilingual (English/Spanish) and holds First Aid/CPR certification. Your peace of mind — and your children's safety — are our top priorities.

What packages do you offer?

We offer three structured coverage options, each with custom pricing: Alekai Ceremony Coverage (4 hours), Alekai Reception Coverage (8 hours), and Alekai Signature Coverage (12 hours). Each option includes a Lead Wedding Nanny, Alekai Kids Lounge setup, and planner timeline integration. Pricing varies depending on the number of children, ages, staffing ratios, and event logistics.

How much does it cost to add an additional nanny?

Additional event nannies are available, and the investment is confirmed in your custom proposal. Nanny support is carefully recommended based on the number and ages of children to ensure a safe, attentive, and seamless experience throughout the celebration.

Do you travel outside of Miami?

The first 30 miles of travel are complimentary. A small mileage fee may apply beyond that range. Any additional travel costs will always be discussed upfront, so there are no surprises.
